New South Wales has a coastal run from Ballina to 980m at Armidale where frost falls for 90 days in a year approximately. Dubbo has 40°C during summers. and Penrith hits upto 48.9°C in January now.
It is not possible One type of paver to cover that climatic range. Granite absorbs water under 0.5% of its weight & handles frost + salt well. On the other hand Sandstone has an absorption rate of 3% to 8%. however both these stones need sealing.

In these regions, the salt gets into the pores of natural stones. As the moisture naturally dries out, it solidifies and expands which can lead to which pits the surface over ten to fifteen years.
Granite and bluestone are natural stones which have less than 1% water absorption rate. The probability of salt exposure is less. Travertine at 2% to 5% (depending on quarry of sourcing) is used a lot around pools but it has tobe resealed every 1 to 2 years within a block of water exposure regions.
Ballina has a lot of rain each year especially between December and March. The pavers are wet for months which is quite normal. Stones in these should be P4 or P5 slip classified under AS 4586 for anything underfoot.

As per Science, Water will expand when it is frozen. With a paver holding 5% water, it will also lead to expansion. The constant cycle of expansion during frozen days cause flaking at edges and low points of the tile/paver.
Armidale sits near 980m. Goulburn is around 690m. Bathurst is around 670m. Katoomba is above 1,000m. These are from ground level.
We suggest our customers to use granite or bluestone at those heights. Again, if you are using sandstone or limestone, please seal it before its first winter.

Dubbo is at 275m approximately (You can google it) with temperature ranging from mid-thirties to 40°C most summers. Orange suburb is 200km east and sits at 860m. It is snowy at some years. Both these regions are called Central West. The location metric is from our base locations.
Colour drives surface temperature more than the stone does. The temperature of the stone face is more dependent on the colour than the stone material itself. We suggest you to use light coloured travertine or limestone in a honed finish or sandblasted finish where people prefer walking barefeet. Use dark coloured granite or bluestone pavers on driveways where it hides red dust.
Reactive clay is also very common inland. Stone paving experiences cracks if the base is not reinforced.

Wagga is hot in Summers and cold in Winters. Isnt that everywhere? But Parts of North Wagga are flood prone, where the Murrumbidgee has a long record.
On flood prone grounds, you should use cobblestones of 100x100x30mm to 100x100x50mm on a compacted base.
We have a lot of customers from Wagga Wagga and they prefer limestones for their pool surrounds. They prefer to pick the stock themselves but always buy extra pavers to avoid long trips if you need more later.

Sydney is practically built on sandstone from Australia and India. Absorption rate runs from 3% to 8% and as we always say, please use a penetrating sealer. Also, sealers are not a good choice if you have a wet salty climatic region.

Pavers at 30mm. All outdoor paving. At 30mm, stone weighs roughly 75kg to 85kg per square metre.

Paver sizes run 400x400mm, 600x400mm and 610x406mm. French pattern sets combine four sizes in a repeating layout.
Finishes: honed is smooth and matt, unfilled leaves the voids open, filled gives a closed surface for indoors, flamed and exfoliated are textured for outdoor grip, sawn is a clean cut, tumbled looks aged.
Pool barriers. NSW requires most pools to be registered and barrier rules include a non-climbable zone. Raised planters, seating and stacked stone within that zone can fail an inspection after they are built.
Bushfire-prone land. Stone does not burn, which is why it is common in the cleared zone around a house. Requirements come from the assessment on your specific block under AS 3959.
Retaining walls. Approval thresholds vary by council, commonly between 600mm and one metre. A driveway or pool sitting above a wall can bring a lower wall into scope.
Heritage. Conservation areas exist in Bathurst, Goulburn and most older regional towns. Consent for a front path can take longer than the pallet takes to arrive, so check before you order.
